ABOUT

We are the Kitimat Community Foundation and as a Foundation, we have the opportunity to serve and enhance our community through connecting donors to community needs and opportunities. Community Foundations can be set up to serve the entire spectrum of community interests and needs.

As a Community Foundation, we have more opportunity to receive charitable donations that can build a range of funds, including permanent endowment funds and immediate use (flow-through) funds. The funds can be designated as unrestricted or restricted funds, discretionary, community, operating, administrative funds, field of interest – i.e. education or environment, flow through-temporary, agency funds, named funds, donor funds, and managed funds. You receive a taxable donation receipt for your donation.

Foundations are flexible and can accept annual donations, named family, corporate or agency funds, legacy-planned giving, memorial gifts, flow-through, term endowment and retractable funds.

Our Community Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Membership in our Foundation is $10.00 per year for an individual and $25.00 for an organization. Membership fees help support the administrative costs of the Foundation. Our annual meeting will be held in May of each year.

We have chosen to work with the Prince George Community Foundation for the investment of our funds and to share their expertise in having a successful Community Foundation.
